Does TikTok allow AI-generated videos?

Yes. TikTok allows AI-generated videos, but you must label any that contain realistic images, audio or video[1], and some AI content is banned even with a label, mainly fake endorsements by public figures and the likeness of minors or of private people without permission[1].

What is allowed

TikTok's rules treat AI as a production method, not a category of banned content. Its own definition of AI-generated content covers realistic human likenesses and stylised output such as paintings, cartoons and anime[1], and it gives creators a setting to label it[1]. An original AI character doing a dance, a sketch or a talk-to-camera bit is allowed, as long as it follows the same Community Guidelines as any other video.

Two conditions sit on top. Realistic AI content must carry the label[1], and completely generated or heavily AI-edited content is encouraged to carry it too[1]. The step-by-step is in How do I label a video as AI-generated on TikTok?.

What is banned or removed

For the legal side of putting real people in AI videos, see Is it legal to make AI videos of real people?.

Does TikTok detect AI automatically?

Partly. TikTok may apply an "AI-generated" label itself when a video was made with its own AI effects or when the uploaded file carries C2PA Content Credentials[1], and a label applied that way cannot be removed by the creator[1]. Whether your file carries that metadata depends on the tool. CapCut says it marks Seedance output with C2PA Content Credentials plus visible and invisible watermarks[4], while ByteDance's ModelArk API adds no AI watermark unless the developer turns it on[5]. So the absence of an auto-label does not mean you are exempt: the duty to label realistic content is yours either way.

Can AI videos still do well?

The rules that cap reach are about originality more than AI. TikTok's Community Guidelines make unoriginal or reused material ineligible for the For You feed[2]. In our own posting, an original recurring character in familiar formats (a livestream, a tutorial, a dance trend) is what we built around; see What kinds of AI videos do well on TikTok? for the formats and their prompts. We do not publish view counts as proof of anything: one account is not a sample.

People also ask

Do I have to label AI videos on TikTok?
Yes, if they contain realistic images, audio or video[1]. For cartoons, anime and other clearly artificial content, TikTok encourages the label rather than requiring it[1].
Will TikTok delete my AI video?
Not for being AI. It may remove, restrict or label realistic AI content that is not labelled[2], and it removes the banned categories (fake endorsements, minors, private people) regardless of labels[1].
Can AI videos earn money on TikTok?
TikTok's Creator Rewards page does not mention AI either way; it requires original content and videos at least one minute long[3]. Details are in Can you monetize AI-generated videos on TikTok?.
Can I post AI videos of a famous character from a film or book?
TikTok's AI rules focus on real people, but copyright still applies: only the copyright owner may authorise adaptations of a work[6]. In our own renders, the Seedance video model blocked franchise props and franchise names in dialogue.
