Is there a free AI anime video generator?
Yes, with limits: general video generators with free credits, such as Dreamina[1], Kling[4] and Vidu[6], all make anime-style clips if you prompt for the style, and open-weight models like Wan2.2 are free to run on your own GPU[11]. None is unlimited, and most free tiers add a watermark or exclude commercial use.
Free options, and the catch with each
There is no separate class of anime video model you have to find. The same text- and image-to-video models make anime when the prompt and the reference image say so. What differs is the free allowance:
| Tool | Free allowance | Catch |
|---|---|---|
| Dreamina [1] | Free daily credits; its published August 2026 baseline was 120 a day [2] | Watermark removal is a paid benefit [3] |
| Kling [4] | Free generation for eligible users, depending on account and promotions | Free exports generally include a watermark [5] |
| Vidu [6] | A set amount of free credits for all users | We could not verify the amount or watermark terms |
| Runway [7] | 125 one-time credits that do not renew | All Free-plan videos carry a watermark [8] |
| Pika [9] | No monthly credits on Free; credit packs only | No watermark, but no commercial licence |
| Krea [10] | 100 compute units a day, no card | We could not verify watermark or licence terms |
| Wan2.2 [11] | Open weights under Apache 2.0 | You need your own GPU and setup |
Google's Flow help pages conflict: one says it gives 50 credits a day with or without a subscription[12], another lists a Google AI subscription as a requirement[13].
Does it look like real anime?
Close, but you can usually tell. In our renders, anime output from general video models tends to have smooth, continuous motion where hand-drawn anime uses held frames, smears and limited animation. Three habits make it read more like the real thing:
- Name the technique, not a studio or a show: "hand-drawn 2D anime, cel shading, clean ink outlines, painted backgrounds, held poses between fast movements, impact frames".
- Start from an anime-style image instead of text alone. The first frame sets the line weight and palette that the clip keeps.
- Keep clips short and the camera simple. Long camera moves are where the model slides toward a 3D look.

Can I use my own anime character?
Yes, if it is your own. Image-to-video tools take your art as the first frame or reference; can AI animate a drawing covers which ones and how to keep the style. Characters from existing anime are a different story: tools filter recognisable copyrighted characters, and fan character AI videos explains why and what to do instead. Note that TikTok's definition of AI-generated content covers stylised output such as cartoons and anime[14], so anime clips count as AI content there too.
Where Cast fits
- An anime-style character clip with no sign-up: the first 5-second video is free, and the Sakuga Anime style gives hand-painted 2D anime with sketch-like linework.
- Your own anime character described in a sentence, drawn in the Sakuga Anime style as four looks to pick from (15 credits).
- Short vertical anime clips of 5, 10 and 15 seconds for TikTok or Shorts.
Where it does not:
- Animating your own anime drawing. Cast cannot take an uploaded image.
- Unlimited free use; after the first video, clips cost credits (52 for 5 seconds).
- Full anime episodes or anything longer than 15 seconds in one clip.
People also ask
- Is there an AI anime video generator with no sign-up?
- Most hosted tools need an account. Cast's first 5-second video needs none and has a Sakuga Anime style; open-weight models such as Wan2.2 need no account but run on your own hardware[11].
- Which free anime generator has no watermark?
- Pika's comparison table marks no watermark on all plans, including Free, but Free has no monthly credits and no commercial licence[9].
- Can I make anime videos from text only?
- Yes, but starting from an anime-style image keeps the line art and palette more consistent across the clip.
- Can I use free anime clips commercially?
- Check the plan. Pika excludes a commercial licence on Free and Starter[9]; for other tools, read the terms before you post for a client. See can I use AI videos commercially.
