How do I make an AI dance video for free?
Use a free tier of either a motion-transfer tool, which copies the moves from a real dance clip onto your character, or a video model that generates the dance from a prompt, ideally with the song as an audio reference. Free tiers give you only a few short clips, which is enough for a 5 to 15 second dance.
How AI dance videos work
There are two methods, and they suit different goals.
- Motion transfer. You supply a character image and a real dance video; the tool moves your character the way the dancer moves. The choreography is exact because it is copied. Viggle, for example, takes uploaded videos of up to 1 minute on Free and gives 5 free videos a day[1] [2].
- Generation from a prompt. You describe the dancer, the place and the moves, and the model invents the choreography. With Seedance 2.0 you can add audio clips as references so the moves follow a song[3]. The result looks more like a filmed scene, but the moves are the model's, not a known routine.
Step by step: a free dance video from a prompt
- Pick a free tier that offers Seedance or a similar model. Dreamina offers Seedance 2.5, 2.0 and 2.0 Mini with free daily credits[7]; removing the Dreamina watermark from downloads is listed as a paid-plan benefit[9].
- Prepare one clear picture of the dancer. On the 2.0 series, reference audio has to come with an image or video; Seedance 2.5 accepts audio alone[6].
- Add the song as an audio reference and say that every move lands on the beat. In our renders this was what made the moves and lip-sync follow the track.
- Write the prompt as a timeline with a place, a camera that does not move, and one gag or turn at the end.
- Keep it to one clip. Seedance 2.0 makes up to 15 seconds per generation[4]; 2.5 goes to 30[5].
A prompt in the shape that worked for our tower dance:
@Image1: the dancer, open on exactly this frame. @Audio1: the song. Every move lands on its beat. One locked shot from a phone on a tripod at the edge of a rooftop at blue hour, the only viewpoint, no cuts. 0-3s: she stands still, then counts in with two finger snaps. 3-11s: a sharp hip-hop routine, arms hitting every downbeat, hair whipping on the turns. 11-15s: a gust of wind blows her hair across her face. She freezes, then says: "That was intentional." Avoid: No subtitles. No phone or tripod visible in frame. No change to her face.
What we learned making dance videos
- Delete any 'no background music' line from your avoid list. It fights the audio reference.
- The model re-sings the song rather than passing it through. In our takes it ran about 0.3 to 0.4 seconds late, so we laid the original track back over the picture.
- Group dances drift: faces average out. Give each dancer a written description and a signature move. Our three-girl walk-in worked that way on Seedance 2.0 Fast.
- To go past 15 seconds, render a second clip from the last frame of the first. Details are in our Seedance field guide.
- Use music you have the rights to. We make original songs for our dance videos rather than using commercial tracks.
Where Cast fits
- You want a character dancing from one line of text, with no picture and no account: the first 5-second video with a Malfoid & Friends character is free.
- You want two or three characters dancing together in one vertical clip.
- You want a ready example to copy: the dance prompts in our library show the full structure.
Where it does not:
- Dancing to your own song: Cast does not take an audio upload, so the sound is generated with the video.
- Copying a specific real routine move for move; a motion-transfer tool does that.
- Dance videos longer than 15 seconds in one clip, or of a real person.
People also ask
- Can AI make my character dance to a song?
- Yes, with a model that accepts audio references, such as Seedance 2.0 and 2.5[3]. Our longer answer is can Seedance dance to my song.
- Which app makes AI dance videos for free?
- Viggle's Free plan gives 5 free videos a day, and its plan table lists no-watermark downloads only on paid plans[1]. Dreamina gives free daily credits for images and videos and offers Seedance models[8].
- How long can an AI dance video be?
- One generation is up to 15 seconds on Seedance 2.0[4] and up to 30 seconds on Seedance 2.5[5]. Longer dances are chained clips.
- Can I make a dance video of a real person?
- Not of someone without their permission. TikTok does not allow AI content showing the likeness of adult private figures without permission[10].
