How do I use Seedance?
The easiest way is in a browser through Dreamina, CapCut's creation site, which offers Seedance 2.5 and 2.0 with free daily credits[1]. Developers use it through an API (BytePlus ModelArk, or resellers such as fal, Replicate and Atlas Cloud), and several apps run it behind a simpler interface.

Using Seedance in Dreamina or CapCut
- Open Dreamina and choose a Seedance model: 2.5, 2.0 or 2.0 Mini are listed[1].
- Add references if you have them. Dreamina's Seedance 2.0 takes up to 9 photos, 3 videos and 3 audio clips[2].
- Write the prompt as a short timeline with any dialogue in quotes (see below).
- Pick length and aspect ratio, generate, and download. Removing the Dreamina watermark is a paid-plan benefit[3].
In CapCut, Seedance 2.0 makes clips up to 15 seconds in 6 aspect ratios[4]. During its rollout CapCut restricted making videos from images or videos with real faces[4].
Using Seedance through an API
- Choose a provider. BytePlus is ByteDance's own cloud: you activate Seedance 2.x by buying a resource pack, after which pay-as-you-go is enabled[7]. Resellers bill per second with no pack.
- Choose the model. 2.0 Fast for cheap drafts up to 15 seconds at 720p, 2.5 for up to 30 seconds and 1080p[5] [6].
- Send the job. Text-to-video, image-to-video (a first frame) or reference-to-video (images, videos, audio). Set duration, resolution and aspect ratio.
- Poll for the result. Jobs run asynchronously. BytePlus allows individual users 3 concurrent Seedance 2.0 tasks below 4K[5].
- Check the cost. Price depends on resolution and seconds; BytePlus estimates tokens from output width, height, frame rate and duration[8].
Two gotchas from our own API work. On Seedance 2.5 image-to-video, sending an aspect ratio failed the job because the output follows the first-frame image; give it a 9:16 frame and leave the ratio out. And a submit you retry after a client timeout can create a second billed job, so check for the first one before resubmitting.
Writing the prompt
In our renders, Seedance followed a timestamped shot list far better than a paragraph. Give it the references, one sentence of visual style, an avoid list, who the character is and where the camera is, then beats like 0-4s, 4-9s with exact quoted lines. Where Cast fits
- You want Seedance on a phone with no account and no prompt writing: type one line, and Cast writes the full prompt and renders on Seedance 2.0 Fast (720p) or Seedance 2.5 (1080p).
- You are inside TikTok or Instagram: Cast works in their in-app browsers, where Google sign-in is blocked.
- You want your first video free: 5 seconds, no sign-up.
Where it does not:
- Uploading your own images, video or audio as references.
- API access, 4K, or clips longer than 15 seconds.
- Editing a timeline of clips: use CapCut or an editor for that.

- Yes, as Dreamina Seedance 2.0, rolled out to paid users first, starting in Southeast Asia, Brazil and Mexico before more markets including Japan and the US[4].
- Is there a Seedance app?
- ByteDance does not ship a standalone Seedance app that we could find. You use it inside Dreamina or CapCut, through ByteDance's Dola assistant link[11], or through third-party apps.
- Do I need a ByteDance account?
- For the official API you need a BytePlus account and a resource pack[7]. Resellers and apps use their own accounts, and some apps need none.
- Can I use Seedance in ComfyUI?
- We could not verify an official ByteDance ComfyUI node. Since Seedance has no open weights we could find, any ComfyUI route calls a paid API in the background.
