Is Seedance free to use?

Partly. You can make a few Seedance videos free through Dreamina's daily free credits^[1] and through apps such as Cast that give a free first video, but there is no verified free or unlimited Seedance API: BytePlus requires a paid resource pack^[6], and fal and Replicate charge per second of video^[8][9].

The free ways in (as of 2026-10-18)

• Dreamina. CapCut's creation site offers Seedance 2.5, 2.0 and 2.0 Mini and gives free daily credits for images and videos^[1]. Its own guide gives an August 2026 baseline of 120 free daily credits and says no credit card is needed to start^[2]. Removing the Dreamina watermark from downloads is a paid-plan benefit^[3]. Details in is Dreamina free.
• Free first videos in apps. Cast's first 5-second Seedance video is free with no sign-up, while a daily free allowance lasts. We did not survey other apps' free offers.
• Playgrounds. ByteDance Seed's Seedance page links to the Dola assistant and the BytePlus Playground as ways to try the models^[4]. We could not verify whether either generates Seedance video for free or how much.

What is not free

• CapCut. Seedance 2.0 rolled out to paid CapCut users first^[5]. We could not verify whether free CapCut users have it now.
• The official API. On BytePlus ModelArk, Seedance 2.5 and 2.0 are activated by buying a resource pack, after which pay-as-you-go is enabled^[6]. Packs start at 21 USD, expire after 90 days and cannot be refunded^[6]. The site mentions a token free trial, but we could not confirm it covers Seedance 2.x.
• Resellers. fal lists Seedance 2.0 Fast at $0.2419 a second at 720p^[8] and Replicate at $0.15 a second^[9]. There is no free tier on either for Seedance that we could find.

Is there a free unlimited Seedance?

Not that we could verify. Every legitimate route we found meters Seedance by credits, tokens or seconds, because each render costs the provider real compute: BytePlus prices it by output size and length^[7]. Sites that promise unlimited free Seedance are usually capping you quietly, running an older or different model, or not legitimate. Treat any site that asks for your login for another service with suspicion.

How to get the most out of free credits

1. Draft on the cheapest model available (2.0 Mini or 2.0 Fast) and short clips. Credits scale with seconds and resolution.
2. Write the prompt as a timeline with quoted dialogue so the first take is usable. Our Seedance prompt guide shows the structure.
3. Avoid faces that resemble famous actors and franchise props. In our renders those were blocked after the full render, which wastes a free generation's time even when it is not charged.

Where Cast fits

• You want to try Seedance with no account at all: the first 5-second Seedance 2.0 Fast video is free, made from a one-line idea, and works inside TikTok's and Instagram's in-app browsers.
• After that, you want small one-off purchases instead of a subscription: credit packs start at $4.99 for 450 credits, about 8 five-second Standard videos.

Where it does not:

• Unlimited free generation: Cast's free video is one 5-second clip under a daily allowance.
• Uploading your own image, video or song to Seedance: Cast sends its own character images only.
• API or bulk use: Cast has no public generation API; use BytePlus or a reseller.

Can I use Seedance in CapCut for free?

CapCut launched Seedance 2.0 for paid users first^[5]. Dreamina, CapCut's web creation site, is the free route, with daily credits^[1].

Is Seedance 2.5 free?
