Is Veo 3 free?
Mostly no. The Gemini API has no free tier for Veo[1], and in the Gemini app video generation starts with Google AI Plus at $4.99 a month[2]. The one free route is Google Flow, whose credits page says everyone gets 50 credits a day, enough for two Veo 3.1 Fast generations, although its getting-started page lists a paid Google AI plan as a requirement[3][4].

How far the free daily credits go
Flow prices Veo per generation. For users below Ultra, Veo 3.1 Fast costs 20 credits, Veo 3.1 Lite 10 and Veo 3.1 Quality 100[3]. So 50 daily credits buys about two Fast clips or five Lite clips, and not one Quality clip. One request can produce two generations, so check the output count before you press generate[3].
Google's two Flow help pages disagree. The credits page says the 50 daily credits come with or without a subscription[3]; the getting-started page lists a Google AI Plus, Pro or Ultra subscription as a requirement, along with being 18 or older in a supported region[4]. Try it with your own account. If Flow asks you to subscribe, the free route is closed to you.
Every Flow output from Veo carries an invisible SynthID watermark. A visible watermark is optional, except in India, South Korea and Vietnam, where it is applied automatically on all but the top Ultra plan[4].
Student offers and unlimited Veo
We could not verify a student offer for Google AI plans on the pages we read, so check Google's subscription page from your own account. There is no unlimited free Veo either: Gemini app usage is compute-based, refreshes every 5 hours up to a weekly limit, and video is the most usage-intensive feature[5]. Treat sites that promise unlimited free Veo with caution; Google's own pages describe no such thing.
Free alternatives with sound
If the point is a free clip with audio, Dreamina gives free daily credits and runs Seedance 2.5 and 2.0[6], and Seedance 2.5 generates speech in 11 languages[7].
