Seedance vs Veo 3: which is better?

Neither wins outright. Seedance is the better fit for recurring characters and longer single takes, with up to 30 reference images and 30-second clips on 2.5[2], while Veo 3.1 offers 4K output and Google's own apps but makes 4- to 8-second clips per generation, with up to three reference images[11]. We render with Seedance regularly and have no first-hand Veo renders, so the Veo side here comes only from Google's documentation.

Which Veo, which Seedance

"Veo 3" in 2026 means Veo 3.1, which Google ships in three variants: Veo 3.1, Veo 3.1 Fast and Veo 3.1 Lite[11]. Seedance's current models are 2.0 (with Fast and Mini variants) and 2.5[3] [4]. The fair pairings are Veo 3.1 Fast against Seedance 2.0 Fast for cheap drafts, and Veo 3.1 against Seedance 2.5 for quality[12] [5].

Price per second

At the cheap end Veo is cheaper: Veo 3.1 Lite lists at $0.05 a second at 720p and Veo 3.1 Fast at $0.10[12], against about $0.12 a second for Seedance 2.0 Fast on BytePlus[5]. At the top end the picture flips: full Veo 3.1 is $0.40 a second at 1080p[12], against about $0.57 for Seedance 2.5 at 1080p on BytePlus[5], but Seedance 2.5 at 720p is about $0.23[5]. On resellers Seedance 2.0 Fast goes as low as $0.15 a second at 720p[8]. Our own Seedance account was quoted $0.058 a second for 2.0 Fast at 720p on 2026-10-16. For clip-by-clip numbers see how much Seedance costs and how much Veo costs.

Characters, lip sync and length

For a recurring character this is the deciding section. Seedance accepts far more references: on 2.5, up to 30 images, 10 videos and 10 audio clips in one pass[2]. In our renders, a character's reference image plus a written description held her face across dozens of separate videos, and lines written in quotes came out lip-synced in the voice we described. Veo 3.1 takes up to three reference images, and only on 8-second clips[11]: enough for one character, tight for three.

On lip sync we cannot give you a fair head-to-head. We have no first-hand Veo renders, and the Google pages we read list audio pricing but do not describe lip-sync quality. Any claim that one lip-syncs better than the other would be a guess from us.

On length, Seedance 2.5 makes a 30-second single take[2]. Veo makes 8 seconds and extends it 7 seconds at a time[11], which reaches longer totals but through joins. If you want one uninterrupted moment with speech, Seedance is the simpler path; if you want a long sequence built shot by shot, Veo's extension is designed for that.

People also ask

Which is cheaper per second, Seedance or Veo?
At the cheapest tier Veo 3.1 Lite is cheaper at $0.05 a second at 720p[12]. At 1080p full quality Veo 3.1 ($0.40 a second[12]) is cheaper than Seedance 2.5 on BytePlus (about $0.57[5]).
Which has better lip sync?
We cannot say fairly: we use lip-synced dialogue in Seedance regularly but no first-hand Veo renders, and Google's docs we read do not describe lip-sync quality.
Which is easier to access?
Both can have free routes: Flow's credits page says it gives 50 credits a day, though Google's pages conflict on whether a subscription is needed[15], and Dreamina gives free daily Seedance credits[9]. Neither has a free API tier we could verify[12].
Which handles reference images better?
Seedance takes many more: up to 9 images on 2.0 and 30 on 2.5[4], against 3 on Veo 3.1[11].
