Is Kling AI free?
Partly. Kling AI offers free generation to eligible users, but the credits and features you get depend on your account and current promotions, and free exports generally carry a watermark[1]. Some models, higher resolutions, watermark-free downloads and commercial use sit behind a paid membership or extra credits[1].
What the free tier gives you
Kling's own feature page words this carefully: free generation is available to eligible users, and the credits and features on offer depend on current account and promotional conditions[1]. Its plans explainer says the same more briefly: a free tier exists, but watermark-free downloads may require a paid plan[2]. What Kling does not do is publish a fixed free-credit number on a page we could read.
Its membership page builds itself in the browser, and the copy we fetched showed no plan names, prices or credit amounts. Figures for daily free credits circulate on third-party sites, but they disagree with each other, even on whether the allowance is daily or monthly, so we do not repeat them. Sign in and read the credit counter in your own account.
- Watermark: free-tier exports generally include a watermark; removing it is a membership benefit[1].
- Commercial use: Kling permits commercial use of eligible outputs under its paid-service terms[1]. It does not say free-tier output qualifies, so treat free clips as tests.
- Models and resolution: some models, higher resolutions and advanced features need a membership or extra credits[1].
- Unlimited: we found no unlimited free plan on Kling's pages. Even its avatar page says generation is credit-based rather than unlimited[3].
What you can make for free in practice
Kling's homepage headlines Kling 4.0 as its newest model[4]. Kling 4.0 makes clips from 3 to 30 seconds per generation, and Kling 3.0 up to 15 seconds[1]. Whether a given model is open to your free credits depends on your account, so check the model picker before you write a long prompt.
Spend a small free balance on short tests: one subject, one action, the shortest length. If a clip takes several tries to come out right, the balance runs out fast, because every retry costs the same as the first try. Our Seedance prompting field guide covers the timeline prompt structure that cut our retries; the idea carries over to other models.
Free alternatives if the watermark is a problem
Several tools state their free terms more plainly. Pika's Free plan includes no monthly credits (credit packs only), but has no watermark and no commercial licence[5]. Runway gives 125 one-time credits, and all Free-plan videos carry a Runway watermark[6][7]. Dreamina, CapCut's AI creation site, offers free daily credits and runs Seedance 2.5 and 2.0[8].
Cast is another option for short vertical character clips: the first 5-second video is free with no sign-up, new visitors get 55 free credits, and it adds no visible watermark of its own. See the free AI video generator with no sign-up page, or the full list of Kling AI alternatives.

Where Cast fits
- You want to try an AI character video before creating any account: the first 5-second video needs no sign-up.
- You want short vertical clips without a visible watermark added by the app.
- You would rather describe a character in a sentence than prepare reference images.
Where it does not:
- Animating your own photo or drawing: Cast characters are drawn from a text description, while Kling works from images and keyframes[1].
- Clips longer than 15 seconds, or longer than 10 seconds without Premium.
- Lip-syncing to audio you upload: Cast generates the voice in the render.
People also ask
- How many free credits does Kling give?
- Kling does not publish a fixed number on a page we could read; it says free credits depend on your account and current promotions[1]. Check the counter after you sign in.
- Do free Kling videos have a watermark?
- Generally yes. Kling says free-tier exports generally include a watermark and that removing it is a membership benefit[1].
- Is there an unlimited free Kling plan?
- No. We found no unlimited free plan on Kling's site, and its avatar page says generation is credit-based rather than unlimited[3]. Treat sites that promise unlimited free Kling with caution.
- Can I use free Kling videos commercially?
- Kling says commercial use is permitted for eligible outputs under its paid-service terms[1]. It does not say the free tier qualifies, so do not plan client work on free credits. See can I use AI videos commercially.
